The Carlisle Clan - Fall 2015 |
President Carlisle was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and grew
up in Bountiful, Utah. He has three
sisters and one brother. He served a mission in Chile back when the country was
all one mission. I was born and grew up in Salt Lake City as the only girl with
three brothers. I met President Carlisle while attending BYU and we were
married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1977.
We are the proud parents of five children—three daughters and two sons—and
13 grandchildren. Sandy, Utah has been
our home for over 36 years.
President Carlisle has worked for Deseret Book for the past 40 years and has collected LDS books since his first day on the job. President Carlisle loves to cheer for his BYU
Cougars and has been a loyal BYU football season ticket holder since 1979! He takes great satisfaction in working in his
yard and is always striving for the greenest grass on the street. He loves reading the daily newspaper and is
excited to be trading in his signature button-down plaid shirts and New Balance
sneakers for a suit and tie.
I love to read and my favorite book is Anne of Green
Gables. I am a retired elementary school
teacher and acquired a large collection of children’s literature during my 29
years of teaching (which I recently distributed to my grandchildren who have
inherited my love of reading). I also
enjoy singing and treasure the memories I have of singing in the Salt Lake
Tabernacle and in a sacrament meeting where President Kimball spoke. My mom taught me to knit and crochet and I
have carried on her tradition of knitting Christmas stockings for my family and
love to crochet baby blankets for each
of my grandchildren. I also enjoy cooking and make a killer cherry pie and
yummy chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon rolls.
of my grandchildren. I also enjoy cooking and make a killer cherry pie and

We love to travel and try to plan a vacation with our
children and grandchildren every summer. Although it’s hard to pick a favorite, we really
value the time we spent in Israel and Egypt and are hoping to one day explore
Antarctica.
We feel so honored and blessed to be called to serve as Mission
President and wife in the Honduras San Pedro Sula East Mission. We are working hard to hone our language
skills and prepare ourselves to serve the Lord. We are anxiously looking
forward to our arrival in Honduras and meeting all of you!
