Loving Our Missionaries and Honduras

We have been on the road again -- this time for missionary quarterly interviews.
The country of Honduras truly is beautiful as are the people that we meet everywhere we go!
We also made our first visit to Roatan.  No time to enjoy leisure activities for which most people visit this tourist destination.  We took the ferry there and chose to return to the mainland via plane after I found that being seasick is something that I don't particularly enjoy.

We just finished some training with the missionaries that have been out for four to eight weeks on their missions.  They were given the opportunity to share an experience that they have had since coming to Honduras. One sister spoke of being guided by the spirit to walk down a long dark staircase only to find a family that had never before been contacted by the missionaries. They were so very receptive to their message and are now being taught the gospel and are preparing to be baptized.  Another Elder from the states, trying to learn Spanish, spoke of having words come to his mind that he had not previously remembered hearing that helped him teach and bear witness of the truthfulness of the gospel.  These experiences are common among these young missionaries and it’s wonderful to hear of their growth and progress sharing the Doctrine of Christ.

for those missionaries with less than 12 weeks in the mission.

This coming week promises to be a busy one for us as we will be welcoming our first group of nine new missionaries to Honduras to begin their service here. The following day we will be hosting 19 missionaries in our home for a final dinner and testimony meeting before bidding them farewell as they return to their native lands concluding their missions. We also have four visa-waiters that will be leaving for their assignments that came in their original call to serve.   As you can see, the work is moving forward at a fast pace as we are involved in this great work to prepare the world for the Savior’s second coming.  We consider it a privilege to be a part of it all.

First Mission Tour for President & Sister Carlisle

We have arrived in the Honduras San Pedro Sula East Mission -- the best mission in the world!  We have been running very fast since our feet touched the ground here!  We have toured the mission and have been so warmly welcomed.  We have loved getting to meet all of our amazing, hardworking missionaries and are thrilled to be serving alongside them as we teach repentance and baptize converts together with the Lord!
